Franchising
is a working method that is spreading rapidly
all over the world. The word "franchise"
probably makes you think of famous trade
names such as McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's;
but there are many more types of companies
with franchises. Houses are bought and sold
through real estate companies that are franchised;
cars are bought, sold and even cleaned through
franchises; you can travel from one side
of the world to the other with a travel
agency franchise. So now with
translations can also be done through a
franchise.
Franchising is simply
a business method. It is a way of marketing
a product or service that has been chosen
and used by a wide variety of industries
and businesses. The word "franchise"
literally means being free. In this sense,
the franchise offers you the chance to own,
run and manage your own business. However,
along with the freedom you also have responsibilities.
In the field of franchises responsibilities
mean the undertakings and obligations of
the franchisee with respect to the franchiser;
normally specified in a franchise contract.
The franchiser is the one who owns the business
name or registered trademark. The franchisee
is the person who buys the right to use
that trademark as well as the business system.
The franchise works because
it combines the best qualities from both
parties, the franchiser and the franchisee,
in a profitable business for both parties.
In most franchise systems, the franchiser
provides the Trademark, the "Know How"
and supports the franchisee through a central
office. In exchange, the franchisee makes
his/her investment to open a new office
and runs it enthusiastically every day.
The
franchise (translations by Fax and Internet)
is a franchise that requires a small investment
and set-up from the translator.
The
concept is basically very simple: the business
world needs translations fast and wants
a quality service. The
people do translations quickly and hand
them over by Fax, modem or E-mail. We are
totally dedicated to client service and
this is one of the unique features that
sets us apart from the competition.
Our highly qualified staff
(multilingual translators, native translators,
specialised translators,...) and our computer
gear (word processing, scanners, OCR, etc...)
and communications systems (fax, internet,
adsl,...) mean that we are ready to cover
all the needs of the business world.
offices work efficiently, and as long as
they follow our guidelines, they provide
good profits.
Who can be a franchisee
for
?
Translators who are prepared to learn how
to offer excellent service to their clients.
Experience in other translation companies
or being self-employed is not necessary,
it is possibly even preferred so as to avoid
preconceived notions about how a translation
company should be run.
What is
?
The first
Office was opened in 1990 by José
Ramón Herrera. Till then he had done
different kinds of jobs as an employee,
but he wanted to set himself up in something
that he really liked, translating. Since
he spoke several languages he thought he
could set up a translation business with
a small outlay, in his own home (telecommuting)
and sending the work done by fax. Since
he did the majority of the translations
himself, most of the profit was reaped by
his own Company. The idea worked from the
outset and 14 years of success followed.
In 1994 the first franchised office opened
and after seeing the success obtained by
the new company, he started to extend it
nationally in January, 1996.
